2017 Summer Youth Classes & Camps

Early Bird 10% discount for tuition paid in full by April 29, 2017

Payment by Credit Card/Cash/Check

Reservations and Cancellations: To reserve a place in the summer program 50% of the tuition of the class or camp is due by June 12, 2017. The remaining tuition is due on the first day of class. Registrations will be accepted after June 12 on a space-available basis only; full tuition is due with registration.
Cancellations: 30 calendar days prior to the start date of a class or camp will be fully refunded minus the registration fee. Cancellations 15 calendar days prior to the start date of a class or camp will be 50% refunded minus the registration fee. We cannot refund any tuition 14 days prior to the camp or class or after the class or camp has begun. If a medical emergency occurs during a camp that prevents the student from continuing, we ask for a physician’s note and can apply the remainder of the tuition to future classes. All classes are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment. Any registrations received after maximum enrollment has been reached will be refunded; if a class is canceled for insufficient enrollment, any registrations for it will be refunded.

CREATIVE DANCE for 3-4 YEAR-OLDS

DATE/TIME: Saturdays 9:00-10:00AM.
Session 1: Five Saturdays, June 17-July 15
Session 2: Five Saturdays, July 22-August 19
TUITION: $95 for one session, $180 for both sessions
ATTIRE: Leotard and footless tights, or comfortable clothing and barefoot. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun; short hair may be clipped back away from face.

Creative dance stimulates children’s spontaneity and self-expression.  In a nurturing and playful atmosphere, children discover the joy of dance through the exploration of space, time and energy.  A variety of music and props are used to enhance the learning experience.

PREPARATORY 1 for 5-6 YEAR-OLDS

DATE/TIME: Saturdays 10:00-11:00AM.

Preparatory 1 explores introductory concepts of ballet and modern dance technique. These classes encourage creativity and coordination, allow investigation into one´s carriage and alignment, and develop ease of movement.

PREPARATORY 2 for 7-8 YEAR-OLDS

DATE/TIME: Saturdays 11:00AM-Noon.
Session 1: Five Saturdays, June 17-July 15
Session 2: Five Saturdays, July 22-August 19

ATTIRE: Leotard and footless tights, or comfortable clothing and barefoot. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun; short hair may be clipped back away from face.

Preparatory 2 continues to explore introductory concepts of ballet and modern dance technique, and adds greater challenge and complexity than Preparatory 1. These classes encourage creativity and coordination, allow investigation into one’s carriage and alignment, and develop ease of movement.

“DANCE A STORY” HALF DAY CAMP for 5-7 YEAR-OLDS

DATE/TIME: Monday-Thursday 9AM-Noon, June 26-29.
TUITION: $195
ATTIRE: Leotard and footless tights, or comfortable clothing and barefoot. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun; short hair may be clipped back away from face.

Children explore basic ballet and modern dance technique through the beloved fairy tale ballet Cinderella! This is a gentle and fun introduction to the performing arts.

“INTRO TO THE WORLD OF DANCE” HALF DAY CAMP for 8-13 YEAR-OLDS – BALLET / CHARACTER / MODERN / JAZZ

DATE/TIME: Monday-Friday 12:30-5:00PM
Session 1: June 26-30
Session 2: July 31-August 4
TUITION: $330 for one session, $630 for both sessions
ATTIRE: Ladies may wear any solid color leotard, pink convertible tights and ballet slippers for ballet & jazz dance, character shoes or at least 1″ heeled shoe and a knee length circular skirt for character dance. Some skirts and character shoes are available to be borrowed. Gentlemen may wear black tights, dance belt, white fitted t-shirt and white stockings with white ballet slippers for ballet, jazz, and character dance. All dancers will be barefoot for modern. Long hair must be pulled back into a bun; short hair that falls into the face must be secured out of the face.

Students will receive instruction in Ballet, Character Dance, Modern and Jazz Dance. This one week half day camp is appropriate for the young beginning student who wants to experience different forms of dance in the summer and possibly continue their study into the school year! Emphasis will be placed on body alignment, carriage, quality of movement, musicality and coordination, as well as their own creativity.

INTERMEDIATE FULL-DAY WORKSHOP for 11-15 YEAR-OLDS – BALLET, MODERN, CONDITIONING/YOGA, and SPECIAL TECHNIQUE REPERTORY FOCUS

DATE/TIME: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-4:00PM
Session 1: July 10-14
Session 2: July 17-21
Session 3: July 24-28
TUITION: $525 for one session, $1,000 for two sessions, $1,450 for three sessions
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years of current ballet training, or attainment of an intermediate level of ballet technique. Inquire with Dance Fremont if unsure of level.
ATTIRE: Ladies may wear any solid color leotard, pink convertible tights and ballet slippers for ballet, pre-pointe & jazz dance, pointe shoes for pointe (if applicable), character shoes or at least 1″ heeled shoe and a knee length circular skirt for character dance. Some skirts and character shoes are available to be borrowed. Gentlemen may wear black tights, dance belt, white fitted t-shirt and white stockings with white ballet slippers for ballet, jazz, and character dance. All dancers will be barefoot for modern. Long hair must be pulled back into a bun; short hair that falls into the face must be secured out of the face.
LUNCH AND SNACKS: Students must bring their own snacks and lunch. This is a vigorous, full-day program; proper nutrition is essential to sustain energy for the whole day. Breaks will be provided, however students are not allowed off the Dance Fremont premises during the day.
ROOM & BOARD: Home stays with Dance Fremont families are available for a limited number of out-of-town students. Cost for room, board and transportation to and from Dance Fremont is $350 for one week, $600 for two weeks, $750 for three weeks. Subject to availability.

Students will receive instruction in ballet, pointe (or pre-pointe), modern, and dance conditioning/yoga. Additionally, each week will have a different special technique class culminating in a piece of repertory performed on the final day. The first week´s special technique repertory class will be Character Dance; the second week will be Jazz Dance; the third week will be Dance Composition. This workshop is appropriate for the lower intermediate to intermediate level student who wants to continue dancing into the summer and expanding their dance vocabulary. Emphasis will be placed on body alignment, carriage, strengthening/conditioning, quality of movement & creativity, musicality and coordination.

ADVANCED CONTEMPORARY DANCE INTENSIVE for 14-22 YEAR-OLDS

Audition required
TUITION: $1,175 for Both Weeks (8/7-8/18); $650 for Week One (8/7-8/11)
DATE/TIME: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:30PM
Week 1: August 7-11
Week 2: August 14-18
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 6 years of current ballet training or attainment of an advanced level of ballet technique.
ATTIRE: Ladies may wear any solid color leotard, pink convertible tights and ballet slippers for ballet, pointe shoes for pointe (if applicable), and jazz shoes for jazz. Gentlemen may wear black tights, dance belt, white fitted t-shirt and white stockings with white ballet slippers for ballet, and jazz shoes for jazz. All dancers will be barefoot for modern. Long hair must be pulled back into a bun; short hair that falls into the face must be secured out of the face.

AUDITION: Sunday Mar. 5 & Mar. 19 @ 2-4pm $25
Audition Fee: For students unable to attend the audition, you may send in a 10 minute video link or dvd which includes the following:
At the Barre: (in pointe shoes if applicable) plies in 1st, 2nd & 5th positions, battement tendu combination, rond de jambe a terre with fondu, developpe en croix, grand battement en croix.
At the Center: Adagio including developpes, waltz combination including pirouettes en dehors and en dedans, petit allegro and grand allegro. Materials will not be returned unless student attends the program and requests return.

Acceptance Into Program: Student will be notified 2 weeks after receiving materials

A two-week dance intensive for the advanced and high intermediate dancer which intends to challenge and educate the serious, young aspiring dancer in Ballet, Modern, Dance Anatomy (integrated into Ballet and Conditioning classes) Pointe, Jazz Dance, Dance Conditioning and Yoga for Dancers. Students will also have special topics seminars covering subjects such as injury screening/prevention, dancer health, stage makeup, and others TBA. Students´ families are invited to a showing of work on the last day of the intensive. Students may attend both weeks, or week one only.
