Youth Dance Attire
Please note that this dress code is only applicable to our youth classes. Adult beginning classes & adult open ballet classes are not required to wear the attire listed below.
Traditionally, female ballet students have worn a leotard uniform and male ballet students have worn a white shirt uniform. Dance Fremont students may wear the uniform option(s) they feel most comfortable in.

Hair & Accessories
Students must be prepared with their own equipment for doing their hair appropriately for class.
For Creative Dance, Primary Dance, and Preparatory Dance:
- Short hair that falls into the face should be securely clipped or pinned back
- Long hair must be secured away from the face and shoulders in a ponytail, bun, or another hairstyle that keeps the dancer's hair out of their face in a secure, non-distracting way
For Ballet:
- Short hair that falls into the face should be securely clipped or pinned back
- Long hair must be secured away from the face and shoulders. This is traditionally done with a ballet bun, which is not compatible with all hair types or cultural practices. Other options including but not limited to braided/twisted hair, a hijab, a patka, or a french twist, are appropriate and welcomed. Please inquire if you have any questions
- Hair that is insecurely pulled back so that it must be continually adjusted, such as with a bun held only with a hairtie, is not acceptable
For Modern and other dance styles:
- Different dance styles have different options for appropriate hair styles
- If requirements are different than for ballet, this will be communicated by the instructor at the first class
No jewelry should be worn in class. This includes watches or anything distracting on the wrist, necklaces, or large earrings (valuables should be left at home).
