2021 Placement classes and Steadfast Tin Soldier auditions
Saturday September 11, 2021
Dancers may select their audition time by age or by Dance Fremont level. There will be the option to join the info meeting and the audition classes via Zoom – the meeting ID information has been emailed out, or email firstname.lastname@example.org by 10:30am for the link. Dancers who are new to Dance Fremont are encouraged to register for classes before Sept 11 with a provisional placement level (contact email@example.com); this will guarantee a place in our program even if levels are shifted after the placement class. Some classes are filling up, and we will keep registered dancers updated via email–a couple more reasons to register for classes now.
Dancers should only attend one of the audition time slots below even if by age and DF level more than one time slot applies to them.

Because of COVID, The Steadfast Tin Soldier rehearsal and performance schedule is likely to have some differences from past years. However, reading below will give an idea of they typical commitment required in past years, which will remain similar.
STS info from the archives:
The 2019 rehearsal schedule is available here. Most rehearsals are on Saturday afternoons, with a couple of Sunday rehearsals. Students in Level 4, 5 & 6 may also have some Thursday evening rehearsals. Each role has a limited amount of rehearsals; accordingly dancers may only miss one rehearsal maximum, and there are several mandatory rehearsals as the performance approaches. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is a mandatory full cast rehearsal.
The Performers’ Packet holds most of the information you need for participation in The Steadfast Tin Soldier, A Story Ballet. The 2019 packet is available here. Please read it through carefully! Contents include: Rehearsal schedule; STS roles by Act; Ways you can help; Ads and gifts; Backstage theater kit; Costume fitting schedule; Cast party; and more!
Tickets and School Performance
Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday performances of The Steadfast Tin Soldier are available on Brown Paper Tickets and at the door. To avoid waiting in line, buy in advance and select “Print at Home.” You can also invite your class or homeschool group to come to the Friday morning school performance. Share our invitation letter for the school show!
Parent Volunteers and other ways to help
The dancers would not make it to the stage without the dedicated support of their parents, friends and family–thank you! The participation of all families is vital to the production’s success. You can help by signing up for a volunteer task, by donating items for door prizes, by purchasing an ad or putting a message of support in the program, by inviting people to the performances and/or school classes to the Friday school show. See the performers’ packet for more information, go to our Sign Up Genius, or contact Dance Fremont!
There is a strict attendance policy to ensure that every child has sufficient preparation to have a successful and joyous performance experience. If a child misses their first rehearsal, it has a great impact on the child’s self-confidence and on the other students who are trying to imagine a missing body. Depending on the role, a student who has to miss their first rehearsal may not be allowed to participate.
- A maximum of one absence is allowed for illness or a family emergency only. Please do not intentionally plan an absence!
- If a child misses more than one rehearsal, they will be excused from the production.
Mandatory Attendance Days
There will be no excused absences on these days.
