Dance Fremont is keeping our group dance classes online for now, but we’re planning ahead for the day when we can all safely dance together again! To prepare your bodies for that day, we’re excited to offer private Pilates lessons in person on apparatus to our Puget Sound community, starting March 1, 2021.
Pilates is a system of full-body training utilizing resistance to develop strength, flexibility, balance, & coordination, created by Joseph Pilates. Since the days it was known as Contrology and Joseph Pilates ran his first studio from the same building as the New York City Ballet, Pilates has been considered one of the best methods available for crosstraining dancers & helping them avoid injury. All 1-hour lessons will be taught 1-on-1, utilizing the Pilates Reformer & Cadillac apparatuses at Dance Fremont. Sessions are tailored to your individual level of fitness & areas for improvement. This can include jumpboard work for stamina and lower leg strength & stability, in preparation for returning to petit and grande allegro work in the studio. Pilates lessons are open to adults who are dancers as well as those without dance experience, and to youth dancers enrolled in DF level IV & up (or the equivalent at another studio).
To protect our instructor and students’ safety, all participants must wear grip socks and a properly fitted mask covering the nose and mouth, as well as bring their own water bottle.
