Summer Classes & Camps for Youth

ALL CLASSES ARE LOCATED AT 4015 STONE WAY N. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE

Reservations and Cancellations: To reserve a place in the summer program, a $25 Registration Fee PLUS half of the tuition of the class or camp are due by June 12, 2010. The remaining tuition is due on the first day of class. Cancellations 30 days prior to the start date of a class or camp will be fully refunded minus the registration fee. Cancellations 15 days prior to the start date of a class or camp will be 50% refunded minus the registration fee. We cannot refund any tuition after the class or camp has begun. If a medical emergency occurs during a camp that prevents the student from continuing, we ask for a physician´s note and can apply the remainder of the tuition to future classes.

Creative Dance (3-5yrs)

Cost: $140: 2 days per Session / $82: 1 day per Session
Enrollment Limit: 12
Dates: July 7-31 (Session is four weeks)
Time: Wednesdays and/or Saturday 9:00-10:00AM
Attire: Loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun; short hair may be clipped back away from face.

 

Imaginative dance to inspire creative little minds! Children are the co-creators as we explore in an enriched, multi sensory learning environment. "Hands on" experiences enhance their learning by using a variety of musical instruments, props and related art projects.

June & July Dance A Story (6-8yrs)

Cost: $110; Before (from 8-9AM) or after (from 5-6PM) care available for $16 per hour
Enrollment Limit: 12
Dates: Camp 1-June 28-July 1, Camp 2-July 19-22 (Mon.-Thurs.)
Time: 9:00AM-12:00noon
Attire: Loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun; short hair may be clipped back away from face.

 

Children explore basic ballet and modern dance technique through classic ballet stories! This is a gentle and fun introduction to the performing arts.

July Ballet / Character Dance / Modern / Jazz Dance Camp (8-14yrs)

Cost: $310; Before (from 8-9AM) or after (from 5-6PM) care available for $16 per hour
Experience: Beginning to intermediate
Time: Monday through Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM
Dates: July 12-16
Attire: Ladies may wear any solid color leotard, pink convertible tights and ballet slippers for ballet, pre-pointe & jazz dance, pointe shoes for pointe, and a knee length circle skirt for character dance. Long hair must be pulled back into a bun, short hair may be clipped back away from face; Gentlemen may wear leggings, white t-shirt and white ballet slippers for ballet and jazz dance.

 

Students will receive instruction in ballet, character dance, pointe (or pre-pointe), modern, jazz & composition. This one week full day camp is appropriate for the young beginning student who wants to experience different forms of dance to the more experienced dance student to wants to continue dancing into the summer! The students will be divided into groups according to experience and/or age. Emphasis will be placed on body alignment, carriage, quality of movement, musicality and coordination, as well as their own creativity.

Musical Theater / Costume Design & Production Camp (7-12yrs)

Cost: $520, Includes costume & two tickets to Performance; Before (from 8-9AM) or after (from 4-5PM) care available for $16 per hour
Time: Monday through Friday 9:00AM-4:00PM
Dates: July 26- Aug. 6, Performance Friday August 6 at 6:30PM
Attire: Loose, comfortable clothing

 

Throughout each day the students will actively take part in costume design and production or musical theater practice. Along with the rehearsal process, days will also include vocal instruction, dance movement, theater-based activities and ice breakers. Weather permitting; supervised lunches at a nearby park or Fremont public art site will be one of the many highlights of the day! Two weeks of fun and hard work will culminate into a mini-musical based on a mini-musical TBA. Performance will be Friday, August 6 at 6:30PM. Students should bring a lunch, water bottle & snack.

2010 Summer open Classes for
adults, Ballet iv & above

During the summer session, Dance Fremont! offers open classes. To participate in open classes, one must be 15 years of age or have permission from the directors. You may drop in or purchase multiple class cards. Please feel free to contact us (information on Contact Us page) if you have questions about the appropriate level of instruction. All dance classes are taught with an emphasis on learning. Imagery and anatomical information help the adult student to understand clear body mechanics. The class begins with a thorough warm-up and culminates in well-prepared, dynamic center floor work.

Beginning Ballet II

Beginning Ballet II is appropriate for students who have studied for at least two recent consecutive years.

The Limón technique class is based on principles of weight, fall and recovery as established by Jose Limón and his mentors, Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman. The use of breath, opposition, isolation, succession, musicality, expressive gestures and articulation of the spine help to develop dynamic and powerful dance technique. This is geared for the student with at least intermediate modern dance skills.

Private Ballet Instruction

By appointment only: $85 per hour

Time restrictions and traditional structure of a regular ballet class does not always allow for individual students' needs. We encourage discussion during private session and use of alternate tools or methods to address challenges one may experience in their technique.
